The Seattle Seahawks acquire LenDale White and Kevin Vickerson from the Titans

The Seahawks acquired 25-year old RB LenDale White and 27-year old DT Kevin Vickerson from the Titans to move down in both the 4th and 6th rounds.  White played under Pete Carroll at USC so he should fit right in with the Seahawks.  White played in 13 games for the Titans last season and he carried the ball 64 times for 222 yards (3.5 ypc) with 2 TD runs.  He also caught 3 passes for 14 yards (4.7 avg) last season.  In his four years in the NFL, White has played in 58 games in which he has carried the ball 628 times for 2,349 yards (3.7 ypc) with 24 TD runs and he also caught 42 passes for 204 yards (4.9 avg).  White will give the Seahawks a power runner which is something they have not had since Shaun Alexander left town.  Kevin Vickerson is a big guy at 6’5″, 305 pounds and he will give the Seahawks another big body for the D-Line rotation.  Vickerson played in 13 games for the Titans last season and he had 28 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss and he defensed 3 passes.  He played in 24 games in his three years with the Titans and he finished up with 45 tackles, 4 passes defensed and he has 1.5 sacks.  This was a outstanding trade for the Seahawks who only traded down so they added two players without giving up any.

The Seattle Seahawks make two separate trades with the Lions

The Seahawks have acquired DE Robert Henderson from the Lions for a 7th round pick in 2010.  They also traded 26-year old guard Rob Sims to the Lions for a 5th round pick in 2010.  Sims played in 14 games (all starts) for the Seahawks last season.  In four years with the Seahawks, Sims played in 45 games (34 starts).  Robert Henderson has not played in a NFL game as of yet but he is only 26 years old so he might help the Seahawks some day.  So essentially the Seahawks got a 5th round pick in 2010 and DE Robert Henderson from the Lions for Rob Sims and a 7th round pick in 2010.  I don’t like this trade for the Seahawks as it leaves a opening on the O-Line.

The Seattle Seahawks acquire Charlie Whitehurst from the Chargers

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Hawks Squawk,Trades by admin on Thursday 18 March 2010 at 9:01 am

The Seahawks have acquired 27-year old QB Charlie Whitehurst and the Chargers’ 2nd round pick for the Seahawks’ 2nd round pick in 2010 and a third round pick in 2011.  Whitehurst only played in 2 games in his career with the Chargers and he didn’t attempt any passes.  He did however carry the ball 2 times for 13 yards (6.5 ypc) with a TD run.  The Seahawks then signed Whitehurst to a 2-year, $10 million dollar deal.  That would signal that the Seahawks will likely have a open competition for the starting QB in 2010.  The Seahawks gave a lot up for Whitehurst as they will move down 20 slots in the second round of this year’s draft.  Whitehurst better make Pete Carroll look good because this trade will be looked at very closely.

The Seattle Seahawks trade Seneca Wallace to the Browns

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Hawks Squawk,Seahawks Headlines,Trades by admin on Tuesday 9 March 2010 at 12:17 am

The Seahawks have traded 29-year old QB Seneca Wallace to the Browns for a conditional draft pick in 2011.  He played in 13 games for the Seahawks last season and he completed 78 of 120 passes (65%) for 700 yards with 3 TD passes and 2 INTs (81.9 QB Rating).  Wallace also carried the ball 16 times for 2 yards (0.1 ypc) with a TD run this year.  Wallace has now played in 48 games in his NFL career and he has completed 333 of 556 passes (59.9%) for 3,547 yards with 25 TD passes and 14 INTs (83.1 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 54 times for 214 yards (4.0 ypc) with 1 TD run.  Look for the Seahawks to draft a young QB to groom behind Matt Hasselbeck in 2010.  This was a good trade for the Seahawks who didn’t view Wallace as starting material.

UPDATE:  The Seahawks will receive a 7th round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft that could escalate to a 6th rounder based on Wallace’s playing time in 2010.

The Seattle Seahawks acquire DT Cory Redding from the Lions

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Hawks Squawk,Seahawks Headlines,Trades by admin on Saturday 14 March 2009 at 6:48 pm

The Seahawks have acquired 28-year old DT Cory Redding and a reported 5th round pick from the Lions for 30-year old linebacker Julian Peterson.  Redding played in 13 games for the Lions last season and he made 38 tackles and had 3 sacks.  Redding has now played in 86 games in his NFL career and he has made 201 tackles, defensed 6 passes, has 16 sacks and he has forced 4 fumbles.  The Seahawks needed help at DT but the cost here was very high.

Julian Peterson will be hard to replace for the Seahawks.  He played in all 16 games for them last season and he made 86 tackles, defensed 5 passes, had 5 sacks and he forced 4 fumbles.
