Seattle Seahawks 20, Oakland Raiders 3

The Seahawks looked pretty good last night, especially defensively against the Raiders.  Tarvaris Jackson didn’t look good at QB once again as he completed 5 of 7 passes for 88 yards with 0 TD passes and 1 INT.  Charlie Whitehurst had a solid game, completing 9 of 15 passes for 140 yards without a TD pass or INT.  Josh Portis finished the game up at QB by completing 3 of 6 passes for 42 yards.  Thomas Clayton led the way on the ground for the Seahawks in this game with 42 yards rushing on 11 carries (3.8 ypc) with 1 TD run.  Vai Taua also had a good game with 31 yards rushing on 7 carries (4.4 ypc) with 1 TD run.  WR Golden Tate led the way in the air for the Seahawks with 5 grabs for 79 yards (15.8 avg).  The Seahawks finished up with 110 yards rushing on 35 carries (3.1 ypc) and they also completed 17 of 28 passes (60.7%) for 267 yards as they had possession of the ball for 32:12.

The defense was excellent for the Seahawks last night.  LBs K.J. Wright (5 tackles), LB Malcolm Smith (4 tackles) and David Vobora (4 tackles) led the way for the Seahawks’ D in this game.  DT David Howard was also busy in this game as he finished up with 2 tackles, 2 QB hits and 1.5 sacks.  The Raiders finished up with 47 yards rushing on 23 carries (2.0 ypc) and they also completed 20 of 34 passes (58.8%) for 181 yards in this game.  The Seahawks finished up the preseason with a 2-2 record.

The Seahawks looked utterly pathetic last night so it was amazing that they didn’t lose this game until the final second when Steve Hauschka nailed a 51-yard field goal.  Tarvaris Jackson was so-so in this game as he completed 13 of 22 passes for 93 yards with 1 TD pass and 0 INTs.  Charlie Whitehurst finished up the game by completing 5 of 8 passes for 53 yards without a TD pass or INT.  Leon Washington led the way on the ground for the Seahawks last night with 33 yards rushing on 8 carries (4.1 ypc) and he also caught 2 passes for 19 yards (9.5 avg).  Justin Forsett pitched in with 23 yards rushing on 6 carries (3.8 ypc) last night.  WR Mike Williams (3 rec, 20 yards), WR Ben Obomanu (3 rec, 19 yards) and TE Dominique Byrd (1 rec, 1 yard, TD) led the way in the passing game for the Seahawks last night.  The Seahawks finished up with 58 yards rushing on 19 carries (3.1 ypc) and they also completed 18 of 30 passes (60%) f0r 125 yards as they only had possession of the football for 25:18.

WR Doug Baldwin had the most electric play of the night for the Seahawks when he returned a kickoff 105 yards for a TD.

The defense gave up a lot of yards last night.  CB Marcus Trufant (6 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 sack and 1 QB hit), safety Jeron Johnson (5 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss) and DE Lazarius Levingston (4 tackles, 3 tackles for a loss, 2 sacks and 2 QB hits) led the way for the D last night.  DE Chris Clemons pitched in with an interception last night.  The Broncos finished up with 148 yards rushing on 34 carries (4.4 ypc) and they also completed 22 of 34 passes (64.7%) for 302 yards last night.  The Seahawks are now 1-2 on the preseason.

The Seahawks were very mistake prone in this game and it cost them on the scoreboard.  Tarvaris Jackson got the start at QB and he looked pretty lousy.  He completed 11 of 21 passes for 75 yards with 0 TD passes and 1 interception which was returned 64 yards for a TD by CB Marcus Sherels of the Vikings.  Charlie Whitehurst looked pretty good in this game as he completed 14 of 19 passes for 97 yards with 1 TD pass and 0 INTs.  Rookie QB Josh Portis finished up the game and he didn’t throw the ball too well as he only completed 2 of 9 passes for 13 yards.  But, he did run the ball well with 4 carries for 46 yards (11.5 ypc) in this game.  Leon Washington (4 carries, 26 yards, 6.5 ypc) and Thomas Clayton (7 carries, 25 yards, 3.6 ypc) led the way on the ground for the Seahawks in this game. TE Dominique Byrd (4 rec, 32 yards), WR Kris Durham (4 rec, 26 yards) and TE Antony McCoy (4 rec, 24 yards, TD) led the way in the passing game for the Seahawks last Saturday.  The Seahawks finished up with 150 yards rushing on 31 carries (4.8 ypc) and they also completed 27 of 49 passes (55.1%) for 181 yards in this game.

DE Raheem Brock (3 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 sack and 2 QB hits) and OLB Aaron Curry (a fumble recovery) led the way for the Seahawks on D in this game.  The Vikings finished up with 142 yards rushing on 27 carries (5.3 ypc) and they also completed 16 of 28 passes (57.1%) for 180 yards.  The Seahawks are now 1-1 on the pre-season.

The Seahawks woke up in the second half when they outscored the Chargers 24-7 to surge to a nice road win.  Tarvaris Jackson started at QB last night and he didn’t do much.  Jackson completed 3 of 5 passes for 13 yards and he also carried the ball 2 times for 12 yards (6.0 ypc).  Charlie Whitehurst followed Jackson into the game as he wasn’t bad.  He completed 14 of 20 passes (70%) for 115 yards without a TD pass or a interception.  He also carried the ball 4 times for 13 yards (3.3 ypc) last night.  Undrafted rookie QB Josh Portis injected a lot of energy into the offense when he took over under center.  Portis completed 5 of 9 passes (55.6%) for 69 yards with 1 TD pass and 0 INTs.  He also carried the ball 4 times for 7 yards (1.8 ypc) last night.  Thomas Clayton led the way on the ground for the Seahawks last night with 62 yards rushing on 16 carries (3.9 ypc) with a TD run.  He also caught 1 pass for 5 yards in this game.  Leon Washington also pitched in with 23 yards rushing on 8 carries (2.9 ypc) with a TD run.  He also caught 3 passes for 11 yards (3.7 avg) last night.  TE Dominique Byrd (2 rec, 52 yards), WR Doug Baldwin (4 rec, 29 yards) and TE Anthony McCoy (2 rec, 22 yards and a TD catch) led the way in the passing game for the Seahawks last night.  The Seahawks rushed for 133 yards on 43 carries (3.1 ypc) last night which helped them have possession of the ball for 35.32 in this game.  They also completed 22 of 34 passes (64.7%) for 180 yards in this game.  The offense looked pretty good in the second half after not showing much in the 1st half.

Linebacker K.J. Wright led the way for the D last night with 9 tackles.  The Seahawks played great team D last night as they held the Chargers to 51 yards rushing on 18 carries (2.8 ypc).  The Chargers also completed 16 of 28 passes (57.1%) for 172 yards last night.  The defense was impressive but the Seahawks had trouble covering kickoffs as Chargers’ WR Bryan Walters returned a kickoff 103 yards for a TD last night.  For the game, the Chargers returned 5 kickoffs for 212 yards (42.6 avg).  The Seahawks have a lot to work on but it was nice to get a road win in the pre-season opener.

Oakland Raiders 27, Seattle Seahawks 24

The Seahawks didn’t play any defense last night and it killed them on the scoreboard in the end.  Charlie Whitehurst started this game at QB for the Seahawks last night and he completed 11 of 22 passes for 210 yards with 1 TD pass.  J.P. Losman finished things up by completing 3 of 9 passes for 9 yards.  He also carried the ball 1 time for 16 yards last night.  RBs Justin Forsett (6 car, 31 yards) and Julius Jones (6 car, 18 yards) led the way on the ground last night for the Seahawks.  Louis Rankin only rushed for 7 yards on 3 carries (2.3 ypc) last night but he also returned a kickoff 99 yards for a TD last night.  WR Deon Butler led the way in the passing game for the Seahawks in this contest with 7 grabs for 101 yards (14.4 avg) with 1 TD grab.  The Seahawks finished up with 77 yards on 19 carries (4.1 ypc) and they also passed for 217 yards despite only having possession of the ball for 23:41.

LB Tyjuan Hagler led the way on D for the Seahawks last night with 10 tackles and 1 tackle for a loss.  Rookie safety Kam Chancellor pitched in with 9 tackles.  The Raiders finished up with 149 yards rushing (3.3 ypc) and 279 yards passing in the game last night.  The Seahawks finished the pre-season with a 1-3 record.

Minnesota Vikings 24, Seattle Seahawks 13

The Seahawks didn’t look too good last night in Minnesota especially offensively.  Matt Hasselbeck started at QB and he completed 9 of 17 passes for 126 yards last night.  Charlie Whitehurst finished up the game by completing 12 of 26 passes for 138 yards with 1 INT.  Justin Forsett (6 car, 20 yards) and Leon Washington (6 car, 16 yards) led the way for the Seahawks on the ground last night.  WRs Mike Williams (3 rec, 54 yards) and Ruvell Martin (4 rec, 49 yards) led the way in the air for the Seahawks last night.  The Seahawks finished up with 44 yards rushing (2.9 ypc) and 242 yards passing last night as they only had possession of the ball for 22:52.

Safety Jordan Babineaux led the way for the Seahawks on D last night with 7 tackles.  Lofa Tatupu pitched in with 5 tackles and 1 pass defensed.  Rookie safety Earl Thomas had 2 tackles, 2 passes defensed, 1 tackle for a loss and he also intercepted a pass that he returned 86 yards for a TD.  The Vikings finished up with 112 yards rushing (3.4 ypc) and 246 yards passing in this game.  The Seahawks are now 1-2 on the pre-season.

Green Bay Packers 27, Seattle Seahawks 24

The Seahawks just didn’t have it on defense in this game and it cost them.  Matt Hasselbeck looked sharp on Saturday Night as he completed 11 of 15 passes for 127 yards with 1 TD pass in this game.  Charlie Whitehurst wasn’t near as sharp as he was in the pre-season opener for the Seahawks as he completed 9 of 20 passes for 73 yards with 1 TD pass and 2 INTs.  Leon Washington led the way on the ground for the Seahawks in this game with 19 yards rushing on 4 carries (4.8 ypc) with 1 TD run.  T.J. Houshmandzadeh led the way in the passing game for the Seahawks on Saturday with 4 grabs for 60 yards (15.0 avg).  The Seahawks finished up with 75 yards rushing (4.2 ypc) and 197 yards passing in this game.

Safety Lawyer Milloy led the way for the Seahawks’ D in this game with 7 tackles.  Rookie 7th round pick (DE) Dexter Davis also had a solid game with 6 tackles, 1 sack and 2 QB hits.  The Packers finished up with 174 yards rushing (4.5 ypc) and they also passed for 247 yards.

Seattle Seahawks 20, Tennessee Titans 18

Don’t let the final score fool you the Seahawks dominated most of this game as they were up 20-7 heading into the 4th quarter.  Matt Hasselbeck didn’t look sharp at all in this game as he completed 4 of 10 passes for 26 yards.  Charlie Whitehurst was pretty darn good in this ballgame as he completed 14 of 22 passes for 214 yards with 2 TD passes and 1 INT.  J.P. Losman wasn’t too good in this game as he only completed 3 of 5 passes for 7 yards with 1 INT.  Quinton Ganther got a lot of work in this game for the Seahawks with 11 carries for 36 yards (3.3 ypc).  Louis Rankin (3 car, 21 yards), Justin Forsett (7 car, 17 yards and 1 rec, 30 yards) and Julius Jones (5 car, 13 yards) each helped out in the running game.  WR Mike Williams only caught 1 pass for 51 yards and it went for a TD.  TE Cameron Morrah pitched in with 4 receptions for 35 yards (8.8 avg).  Rookie 6th round pick Anthony McCoy only caught 1 pass but it went for a 4-yard TD.  The Seahawks rushed for 88 yards (3.1 ypc) and they passed for 233 yards in this game.

Linebacker Matt McCoy (4 tackles, 1 fumble recovery) and LB Alvin Bowen (6 tackles) were solid in this game.  But, rookie 7th round pick Dexter Davis (DE) was all over the field in this game.  Davis finished up with 4 tackles, 1 sack, 1 tackle for a loss and 4 QB hits in his first taste of the NFL.  The Titans finished up with 97 yards rushing (4.2 ypc) and 163 passing yards in this game

Seattle Seahawks 31, Oakland Raiders 21

The Seahawks had it easy last night with the Raiders.  Rookie QB Mike Teel started the game for the Seahawks and he looked good completing 11 of 19 passes for 148 yards with 2 TD passes.  Jeff Rowe finished up this game by completing 2 of 3 passes for 62 yards with 1 TD pass.  Devin Moore was really busy in this game with 22 carries for 75 yards (3.4 ypc) with 1 TD run.  Justin Forsett was also working hard with 12 carries for 42 yards (3.5 ypc) and 3 receptions for 22 yards.  WRs Deon Butler (22 yards), Ben Obomanu (38 yards) and Logan Payne (44 yards) each caught a TD pass in this game.  The Seahawks finished up with 345 total yards in this game (134 rushing, 211 passing).

DE Nick Reed was a man on a mission for the Seahawks in this game with 7 tackles, a sack and a fumble recovery.  The Raiders finished up with 277 total yards of offense in this game (144 rushing, 133 passing).  The Seahawks finished up the pre-season with a impressive 4-0 record.

Seattle Seahawks 14, Kansas City Chiefs 10

Ball control offense and solid defense were the reasons for this victory Saturday Night in Kansas City.  Matt Hasselbeck was solid in this game completing 19 of 25 passes for 216 yards with 2 TD passes and 1 INT.  The interception though was returned 28 yards for a TD by Chiefs’ CB Brandon Flowers.  Seneca Wallace was solid again completing 8 of 11 passes for 84 yards.  Mike Teel finished up the game completing 1 of 3 passes for 6 yards.  Julius Jones led the Seahawks on the ground in this game with 57 yards rushing on 15 carries (3.8 ypc).  Justin Forsett was busy in this game with 45 yards rushing on 12 carries (3.8 ypc) and he also caught 4 passes for 23 yards (5.8 avg).  TE John Carlson (68 yards, TD) and WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh (60 yards, TD) each caught 5 passes apiece in this game.  The Seahawks controlled the football for 36:39 of this game and they rolled up 406 yards of total offense (112 rushing, 294 passing) in this game.

Linebacker Will Herring led a good team effort by the Seahawks in this game as he made 1 tackle, had a sack and a interception.  The Seahawks let the dogs loose in this game as they sacked Chiefs’ QBs 4 times in this game.  The Chiefs finished up with only 260 total yards in this game (108 rushing, 152 passing).
