Justin Forsett is still playing well for the Seattle Seahawks

Even though the Seahawks dealt for Marshawn Lynch recently it doesn’t mean that Justin Forsett won’t continue to have a big role with the offense.  Forsett has played in 5 games for the Seahawks so far this year and he has carried the ball 61 times for 282 yards (4.6 ypc) with 1 TD run.  He has also caught 10 passes for 75 yards (7.5 avg) so far this year.  Forsett is on the small side and that’s why he isn’t cut out to a every down, workhorse type of back.  I think Forsett’s going to remain effective the whole year for the Seahawks as long as he stays healthy.

The Seattle Seahawks need to get Leon Washington more involved in the offense

The Seattle Seahawks lack playmakers on offense and that is why they need to get Leon Washington more involved offensively.  Washington has only carried the ball 11 times for 29 yards (2.6 ypc) in his first three games with the Seahawks and he is yet to catch a pass which baffles me as he is a good receiver out of the backfield.  Washington has been EXPLOSIVE on special teams for the Seahawks this year as he has returned 7 kickoffs for 324 yards (46.3 avg) with 2 TD returns (99 yarder and 101 yarder)!  With the utter lack on playmakers on offense you would think that the Seahawks would want to get the ball in Washington’s hands 5-10 times per game on offense.

Look for Golden Tate to see an increased role in the Seattle Seahawks’ offense going forward

Rookie WR Golden Tate had somewhat of a breakout game in Denver last weekend.  He caught 1 pass for 52 yards last week and he also returned 2 punts for 82 yards against the Broncos in his first NFL action.  Deion Branch leads the Seahawks’ WRs in catches with 7 and Mike Williams leads the corps in yards with 71, so I can see Tate having a big role on the team as soon as this Sunday against the Chargers.

Mike Williams is going to try to make the most of his chance with the Seattle Seahawks

When Pete Carroll got the head coaching gig with the Seahawks you just knew he was going to bring in a couple of his USC players.  I did not think that 26-year old WR Mike Williams was going to be one of them.  He had been out of the league since 2007 when he played with the Raiders & Titans.  He was a first round pick (#10 overall) of the Detroit Lions in 2005 but he only lasted two years there.  Williams played in 30 games in his NFL career prior to this year and he had caught 44 passes for 539 yards (12.3 avg) with 2 TD grabs.  Williams came to training camp and earned a starting job with the Seahawks independent of his ties to coach Carroll.  He then went out and caught 4 passes for 64 yards (16.0 avg) for the Seahawks in the season opener.  The Seahawks hope that Williams will take advantage of what is really his fourth chance in the NFL.

Justin Forsett is playing well for the Seattle Seahawks this season

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Hawks Squawk,Steppin Up by admin on Thursday 3 December 2009 at 1:03 pm

Justin Forsett began this season returning kicks and punts for the Seahawks and he did a decent job.  He has returned 11 kickoffs for 269 yards (24.5 avg) and 13 punts for 59 yards (4.5 avg) this year.  But, now the 5’8″, 194 pound Forsett has stepped into the starting lineup as the main back while Julius Jones has been out of action and he is playing well.  Forsett has played in 11 games this season for the Seahawks and he has carried the ball 67 times for 385 yards (5.7 ypc) with 4 TD runs.  He has also caught 29 passes for 246 yards (8.5 avg) so far this year.  While he is probably too small to ever be a featured back, Forsett has definitely proved that he can step up when needed.

2nd year linebacker David Hawthorne is stepping up for the Seattle Seahawks

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Hawks Squawk,Steppin Up by admin on Monday 23 November 2009 at 2:07 pm

24-year old linebacker David Hawthorne is stepping up big time for the Seattle Seahawks this year.  He has played in all 10 games for the Seahawks and he has 71 tackles, 7 tackles for a loss, 2 forced fumbles, 3 sacks, 5 passes defensed and he has 3 interceptions.  The Seahawks have been having issues on defense this season but it’s not been Hawthorne’s fault as he looks like a player the team can build a defense around.

The Seattle Seahawks are glad to have Matt Hasselbeck back

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Hawks Squawk,Steppin Up by admin on Saturday 17 October 2009 at 11:57 am

The Seattle Seahawks are glad to have Matt Hasselbeck back in action as he is so much better than Seneca Wallace.  He has completed 53 of 84 passes (63.1%) for 617 yards with 7 TD passes and only 2 interceptions (103.4 QB Rating).  Hasselbeck has also carried the ball 7 times for 38 yards (5.4 ypc) this season but the Seahawks are going to discourage him from doing that in the future as that is how he was injured against the 49ers.  The Seahawks are a playoff caliber team with Matt Hasselbeck under center but without them they would be picking very high in next April’s draft so they need to keep him healthy.

Justin Forsett is getting closer to securing a bigger role with the Seattle Seahawks

With Julius Jones being so-so this season and Edgerrin James not playing well at all it’s only a matter of time before Justin Forsett starts getting more P.T. at running back.  Forsett has carried the ball 16 times for 99 yards (6.2 ypc) and he has caught 9 passes for 65 yards (7.2 avg) so far this season.  He has been doing the bulk of his work on special teams for the Seahawks so far this season.  He has returned 7 kickoffs for 164 yards (23.4 avg) and he has also returned 8 punts for 30 yards (3.8 avg).  With Forsett having big duties on special teams I don’t see him being a featured back for the Seahawks any time soon but he still can get more touches on offense.

David Hawthorne has been huge for the Seattle Seahawks this season

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Hawks Squawk,Steppin Up by admin on Thursday 1 October 2009 at 9:23 am

The Seahawks have suffered a lot of injuries at linebacker and 24-year old David Hawthorne has really stepped up as he leads the team in tackles.   He has 23 tackles, one tackle for a loss, he has defensed 1 pass and he has 1 interception.  Even when the linebackers get healthy that are out of action it might be hard to take Hawthorne out of the lineup but having that kind of depth is a good problem to have.

Nate Burleson is really off to a good start for the Seattle Seahawks

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Hawks Squawk,Steppin Up by admin on Thursday 1 October 2009 at 9:21 am

Nate Burleson is really stepping up this season for the Seahawks.  He has caught 20 passes (leads team) for 229 yards (14.5 avg) with 1 TD grab.  He also has returned 5 punts for 41 yards (8.2 avg) this season for the Seahawks.  The Seahawks have been waiting for a couple of years for Burleson to step up in the passing game and he has done that now.  He will eventually start losing catches to T.J. Houshmandzadeh but the Seahawks now have a high flying passing game.
