Tarvaris Jackson is really playing well as of late for the Seattle Seahawks

28-year old QB Tarvaris Jackson has really played well the last two weeks for the Seahawks.  He has completed 34 of 48 passes (70.8%) for 414 yards with 2 TD passes and 1 INT in his last two games.  The Seahawks have scored 61 points in their last two games and they are 2-0.  Jackson has now played in 12 games overall this year and he has completed 216 of 356 passes (60.7%) for 2,479 yards with 11 TD passes and 12 INTs (77.9 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 34 times for 104 yards (3.1 ypc) so far this year.  The Seahawks hope that Jackson’s play of the last two games is not a mirage.

Marshawn Lynch is starting to pick up the pace for the Seattle Seahawks

25-year old RB Marshawn Lynch has really played well lately for the Seahawks.  In his last four games, Lynch has carried the ball 106 times for 443 yards (4.2 ypc) with 3 TD runs and he has also caught 9 passes for 87 yards (9.7 avg) with 1 TD grab.  Lynch has now played in 10 games for the Seahawks this year and he has carried the ball 180 times for 706 yards (3.9 ypc) with 6 TD runs.  He has also caught 20 passes for 170 yards (8.5 avg) with 1 TD grab this year.  The offense has really picked up lately for the Seahawks and it’s because Lynch has given it more balance.

DE Chris Clemons provides a solid pass rush for the Seattle Seahawks

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Hawks Squawk,Steppin Up by admin on Saturday 19 November 2011 at 5:26 pm

30-year old DE Chris Clemons faces constant double teaming as he is the only defensive player on the Seahawks with more than 1 sack this year.  Clemons has played in 9 games for the Seahawks so far this year and he has 23 tackles, 5 sacks, 4 tackles for a loss, 1 forced fumble and 2 passes defensed.  He has now played in 25 games in his first two years with the Seahawks and he has 72 tackles, 16 sacks, 6 tackles for a loss, 2 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery and 6 passes defensed.  The Seahawks need Clemons to keep up the good work because he’s the best pass rusher and defensive lineman on the team.

The Seattle Seahawks are getting good production out of the return game this year

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Hawks Squawk,Steppin Up by admin on Thursday 3 November 2011 at 4:02 pm

RB Leon Washington has been really solid as a return man for the Seahawks so far this year.  He has returned 23 kickoffs for 539 yards (23.4 avg) and he has also returned 20 punts for 240 yards (12.0 avg) in 2011.  Washington has helped the Seahawks get pretty solid starting position on offense so far this year and they need him to keep up the good work.  RB Justin Forsett (1 kickoff return for 11 yards) and TE Dominique Byrd (1 return for 10 yards) have also returned kickoffs this year.  Byrd is now with the Washington Redskins.  The Seahawks have returned 25 kickoffs for 560 yards (22.4 avg) and 20 punts for 240 yards (12.0 avg) so far this year.

Sidney Rice is trying to make up for lost time for the Seattle Seahawks

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Hawks Squawk,Steppin Up by admin on Saturday 8 October 2011 at 12:41 am

25-year old WR Sidney Rice is trying to make up for lost time.  He missed the first two games of the year with the Seahawks due to a hip injury.  He has played in 2 games for the Seahawks so far this year and he has already caught 11 passes for 188 yards (17.1 avg) with 1 TD grab.  Rice is already second to undrafted rookie Doug Baldwin in receptions (12) and receiving yards (194) for the Seahawks this year.  QB Tarvaris Jackson and Sidney Rice played together for years with the Vikings, so it makes sense that he is the #1 WR on the Seahawks.

The safeties are leading the way for the Seattle Seahawks’ D this year

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Hawks Squawk,Steppin Up by admin on Friday 30 September 2011 at 1:40 am

Young safeties Kam Chancellor (23 years old) and Earl Thomas (22 years old) have been forces at the back end of the defense for the Seahawks so far this year.  Chancellor has played in all 3 games for the Seahawks so far this year and he has 24 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 2 passes defensed, 1 interception and 2 forced fumbles.  Earl Thomas has also played in all three games for the Seahawks this year and he has 18 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss and 1 pass defensed.  Usually this would be a bad sign for a defense, but the Seahawks are only giving up 318.0 yards per game so far this year, and that’s not too bad.

Doug Baldwin is stepping up for the Seattle Seahawks

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Hawks Squawk,Steppin Up by admin on Thursday 15 September 2011 at 12:52 pm

22-year old undrafted rookie Doug Baldwin out of Stanford really stepped up for the Seahawks against the Niners last weekend.  He caught 4 passes for 83 yards (20.8 avg) with 1 TD grab to lead the way in the passing game for the Seahawks last Sunday.  Baldwin got a first down or touchdown every time he caught the ball.  Baldwin is a little on the small side as he is 5’10″, 189 pounds so he projects out as more of a #3 type WR.  Still, he looks like quite a find for the Seahawks going forward.

Chris Clemons has been a standout for the Seattle Seahawks this year

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Hawks Squawk,Steppin Up by admin on Sunday 2 January 2011 at 12:20 am

29-year old DE Chris Clemons was pretty much an afterthought in a deal with the Eagles over the summer.  But, he has turned into one of the best players on the Seahawks’ D this year.  Clemons has played in 15 games for the Seahawks so far this year and he has 47 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 10 sacks, 4 passes defensed, 1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recovery.  Clemons has now played in 83 games in his first six years in the NFL and he has 109 tackles, 30.5 sacks, 9 passes defensed and 6 forced fumbles.  Clemons is a late bloomer and the Seahawks are a tad lucky to have him.

Earl Thomas is proving to have been a smart pick for the Seattle Seahawks

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Hawks Squawk,Steppin Up,The Draft Report by admin on Saturday 18 December 2010 at 7:25 pm

Head coach Pete Carroll took a lot of flak from his old safety Taylor Mays at USC because he said that Carroll promised to take him in the NFL Draft.  But, Carroll made the right choice by taking 21-year old safety Earl Thomas out of Texas with the #14 overall pick in last April’s Draft.  Thomas has played in 13 games for the Seahawks so far this year and he has 65 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 7 passes defensed and 5 interceptions.  Thomas gives the Seahawks a good player at the back end of the D to rebuild around.

Pete Carroll has the Seattle Seahawks in good shape

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Hawks Squawk,Steppin Up by admin on Friday 19 November 2010 at 1:53 pm

The Seahawks are somehow 5-4 on the season which has them in first place in the NFC West.  A lot of the credit has to go to 59-year old head coach Pete Carroll who has been rallying his troops despite getting outplayed quite often this year.  The Seahawks are only averaging 286.7 yards on offense per game this year and they are giving up 376.9 yards per game.  But on the bright side the Seahawks are 3-1 in the division and they are also 3-1 at home.  The Seahawks hope that Carroll can get his team to finish strong.
