The Seahawks have acquired 24-year old running back Marshawn Lynch from the Bills for a 4th round pick in 2011 and a conditional pick in 2012.  Lynch played in 4 games for the Bills this year and he carried the ball 37 times for 164 yards (4.4 ypc) and he also caught 1 pass for 7 yards.  Lynch has now played in 45 games in his NFL career and he has carried the ball 687 times for 2,765 yards (4.0 ypc) with 17 TD runs.  He also has caught 94 passes for 670 yards (7.1 avg) with 1 TD grab in his NFL career.  Lynch will likely take over as the Seahawks’ featured running back right away bumping Justin Forsett back to being a 3rd down back.

The Seattle Seahawks have claimed 24-year old G/C Evan Dietrich-Smith off waivers from the Packers.  Dietrich-Smith played in 13 games (0 starts) for the Packers as a rookie last season.  He also played in all four pre-season games for the Pack this year.  Dietrich-Smith is a big guy at 6’2″, 308 pounds so he should be able to provide depth along the interior of the O-Line for the Packers in 2010.  The Seahawks have also claimed 24-year old DB Nate Ness off waivers from the Dolphins.  He was on the Fins last season but he didn’t get into any games.  Ness played in all 4 pre-season games for the Fins this year and he had 15 tackles, 3 passes defensed and he forced 2 fumbles.  He could help the Seahawks on special teams and in the secondary in 2010.

The Seahawks have claimed 23-year old QB Zac Robinson off waivers from the Patriots.  Robinson played in 3 pre-season games for the Patriots and he completed 6 of 15 passes (40%) for 71 yards.  He also carried the ball 1 time for a loss of 1 yard in the pre-season.  Robinson was a 7th round pick of the Patriots last April in the NFL Draft out of Oklahoma State.  He will serve as the Seahawks’ #3 QB in 2010.

The Seahawks have claimed 31-year old DT Junior Siavii off waivers from the Cowboys.  Siavii played in 16 games for the Cowboys last season and he had 11 tackles.  He has now played in 42 games (0 starts) in his NFL career and he has 26 tackles.  Siavii has nice size at 6’2″, 315 pounds and he will add depth to the D-Line in 2010.

The Seahawks have acquired 29-year old G/T Stacy Andrews from the Eagles for a 7th round pick in 2011.  Andrews played in 10 games (2 starts) for the Eagles last season.  He has now played in 72 games (34 starts) in his six years in the NFL.  Andrews brings size at 6’7″, 340 pounds to a Seahawks’ O-Line that needs help due to injuries.  This was a good trade for the Seahawks.

The Seahawks have acquired 25-year old OT Tyler Polumbus from the Lions.  No word yet on what the Seahawks had to give up.  Polumbus played in 15 games (8 starts) for the Broncos last year.  He has now played in 31 games (8 starts) in his two years in the NFL.  With Russell Okung banged up the Seahawks needed help at tackle and they probably got Polumbus for a nice price.

The Seahawks have dealt 25-year old CB Josh Wilson to the Ravens for a conditional 5th round pick.  Wilson played in 12 games (all starts) for the Seahawks last season and he had 45 tackles, 1 sack, 13 passes defensed and he had 2 interceptions which he returned for TDs (126 combined yards).  He played in 40 games (24 starts) in his three years with the Seahawks and he had 130 tackles, 2 sacks, 22 passes defensed and 6 INTs (261 return yards, 3 TDs).  This is a case of a coach (Pete Carroll) wanting to bring in his own guys as a 5th round pick isn’t much of a return for Wilson.

The Seahawks have acquired 23-year old DT Kentwan Balmer from the 49ers for a 6th round pick in 2011.  Balmer played in 11 games for the Niners last season and he had 12 tackles.  He has played in 27 games in his two years in the NFL and he has 19 tackles and 1 pass defensed.  Balmer must have a decent upside in the Niners’ opinion as they used a first round pick on him in 2008.  This was worth a roll of the dice by the Seahawks.

The Seahawks have claimed 23-year old safety Kevin Ellison off waivers from the Chargers.  Ellison played in 13 games as a rookie for the Chargers last season and he had 52 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 1 sack and he defensed 3 passes.  The Chargers released Ellison because of a drug related arrest over the off-season.  But head coach Pete Carroll had Ellison at USC and he thinks he can get him back on the right track.

The Seahawks have claimed 25-year old WR/QB Isaiah Stanback off waivers from the Patriots.  Stanback played in 6 games for the Patriots last season and he caught 3 passes for 22 yards (7.3 avg) and he also returned 1 kickoff for 22 yards.  He has now played in 14 games in his NFL career catching 5 passes for 46 yards (9.2 avg).  He has also returned 14 kickoffs for 318 yards (22.7 avg) in his NFL career.  The Seahawks are taking a small risk on gamble because of his athletic ability.

UPDATE:  (8/8/2010) – Stanback has a torn Achilles Tendon which will cause him to miss the 2010 NFL season.
