Some heads had to roll on offense after last week’s “performance” against the Browns.  With that in mind, the Seahawks have waived 26-year old OT Tyler Polumbus.  Polumbus played in 5 games (0 starts) for the Seahawks last year.  He played in 20 games (7 starts) in his two years with the Seahawks.  They aren’t going to miss him at all going forward.

The Seahawks have released 32-year old DT Junior Siavii.  Siavii played in 14 games for the Seahawks last year and he had 30 tackles, 3 tackles for a loss and 2 passes defensed.  He has now played in 55 games in his first four years in the NFL and he has 56 tackles, 6 tackles for a loss, 1 sack, 1 fumble recovery and 2 passes defensed.  This is not much of a loss for the Seahawks.

The Seahawks have released 28-year old linebacker Lofa Tatupu.  Tatupu played in all 16 games for the Seahawks last season and he had 88 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 1 sack, 1 forced fumble, 8 passes defensed and 1 interception (He returned it for a TD).  Tatupu played in 84 games in his six years with the Seahawks and he has 550 tackles, 23 tackles for a loss, 8.5 sacks, 7 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries, 39 passes defensed and 10 interceptions (2 returned for TDs).  The Seahawks might regret letting go of Tatupu as he was still a solid linebacker for them last year.

The Seattle Seahawks release OT Stacy Andrews

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Hawks Squawk,Leaving Town,Seahawks Headlines by admin on Tuesday 26 July 2011 at 2:49 pm

The Seattle Seahawks have released 30-year old OT Stacy Andrews.  Andrews played in 13 games (12 starts) for the Seahawks last year.  The offensive line was a sore spot for the Seahawks last year and Andrews was a big part of the problem.  Andrews has now played in 85 games (46 starts) in his first 7 years in the NFL, but he appears to be losing it.  It will be interesting to see if a team gives him another chance in 2011.

The Seahawks have waived 24-year old CB Nate Ness and 26-year old RB Quinton Ganther.  Ness made his Seahawks’ debut against the Raiders last Sunday and he had 5 tackles.  The Dolphins have quickly snapped Ness off waivers.  Quinton Ganther has played in 3 games for the Seahawks so far this year and he didn’t touch the ball but he did have 1 tackle.  This is the second time this season that the Seahawks have cut Ganther loose.

The Seahawks have released 29-year old RB Julius Jones.  Jones played in 3 games for the Seahawks this year and he carried the ball 12 times for 30 yards (2.5 ypc).  Jones played in 32 games in his three years with the Seahawks and he carried the ball 347 times for 1,391 yards (4.0 ypc) with 4 TD runs.  He also caught 49 passes for 308 yards (6.3 avg) with 2 TD grabs for the Seahawks.  The Seahawks won’t miss Jones even if he hooks on with another team as they still have Forsett and Washington to go along with the newly acquired Marshawn Lynch.
