Tarvaris Jackson might not be ready to go when the Seattle Seahawks come out of their bye

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Hawks Squawk,Injury Reports,Needs to Step Up by admin on Wednesday 12 October 2011 at 11:00 pm

28-year old QB Tarvaris Jackson might not be ready to get back into action when the Seahawks come off their bye week.  He has a pectoral strain near his right arm.  Jackson has played in all five games for the Seahawks so far this year and he has completed 99 of 157 passes (63.1%) for 1,012 yards with 6 TD passes and 5 INTs (81.0 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 17 times for 78 yards (4.6 ypc) with 1 TD run so far this year.  If Jackson isn’t ready to go, look for 29-year old Charlie Whitehurst to take over as the starting QB.  Whitehurst has played in 1 game for the Seahawks so far this year and he has completed 11 of 19 passes (57.9%) for 149 yards with 1 TD pass and 0 INTs (100.5 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 2 times for 6 yards (3.0 ypc) so far this year.  Whitehurst led the Seahawks to a nice road win over the Giants last weekend, so they have faith in him.

The Seattle Sehawks place Jameson Konz on I.R.

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Hawks Squawk,Injury Reports by admin on Tuesday 11 October 2011 at 2:34 pm

The Seahawks have placed 25-year old TE/DE Jameson Konz on the Injured Reserve List, ending his season due to a torn ACL.  He was injured in his NFL regular season debut.  Konz had 1 tackle against the Giants in his first NFL game.  This is a bad break for Konz, whose career was just starting.  The Seahawks might miss him a little bit on special teams as that is where he future lies.

The Seattle Seahawks place Mike McCoy on I.R.

The Seahawks have placed 28-year old linebacker Mike McCoy on the Injured Reserve List, ending his season due to a knee injury.  McCoy played in 4 games for the Seahawks this year and he had 15 tackles and 1 tackle for a loss.  McCoy has now played in 18 games in his first two years with the Seahawks and he has 34 tackles and 1 tackle for a loss.  The Seahawks will miss McCoy more on special teams than on defense.

The Seattle Seahawks lose Robert Gallery for a while

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Hawks Squawk,Injury Reports,Needs to Step Up by admin on Tuesday 20 September 2011 at 12:38 pm

The Seahawks have lost starting guard Robert Gallery for the next 4-6 weeks due to his need to have groin surgery.  Paul McQuistan will take over Gallery’s starting spot until he’s ready to return to action.  I was going to say that the offensive line was really going to miss Gallery, but they have played awful so far this year as a group.  The Seahawks are only rushing for 47.5 yards rushing per game and 2.7 yards per carry.  They have also allowed 10 sacks already this year.

The Seattle Seahawks place OLB/DE Dexter Davis on I.R.

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Hawks Squawk,Injury Reports by admin on Saturday 17 September 2011 at 6:49 pm

The Seahawks have placed 24-year old OLB/DE Dexter Davis on the Injured Reserve List ending his season due to a hip injury.  Davis played in the season opener against the Niners but he didn’t have any tackles.  Davis has now played in 16 games in his first two years with the Seahawks and he has 13 tackles, 1 sack, 1 tackle for a loss and 1 pass defensed.  This will hurt the Seahawks’ depth at LB and on special teams.

The Seattle Seahawks have lost FB Michael Robinson for a while

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Hawks Squawk,Injury Reports by admin on Monday 12 September 2011 at 4:26 pm

The Seahawks will be without 28-year old fullback Michael Robinson for around 8 weeks due to a high ankle sprain.  Robinson had 1 carry for 2 yards in the Seahawks’ season opener yesterday.  He has played in 12 games (5 starts) in his first two years with the Seahawks and he has carried the ball 13 times for 79 yards (6.1 ypc).  He has also caught 8 passes for 37 yards (4.6 avg) for the Seahawks.  The Seahawks will likely try to sign a fullback to replace Robinson before the next game against the Steelers in Pittsburgh this coming up weekend.

The Seattle Seahawks place three players on the PUP list

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Hawks Squawk,Injury Reports by admin on Monday 5 September 2011 at 3:55 pm

The Seattle Seahawks have placed 24-year old TE Cameron Morrah (turf toe), 26-year old CB Roy Lewis (knee surgery) and 25-year old WR Deon Butler (leg fracture) on the PUP List, meaning that they will miss the first six games of the 2011 season.  Morrah played in 15 games (3 starts) for the Seahawks last year and he caught 9 passes for 117 yards (13.0 avg).  Roy Lewis played in 14 games for the Seahawks last year and he had 26 tackles, 1 sack, 2 tackles for a loss, 4 passes defensed, 1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recovery.  Deon Butler played in 13 games (8 starts) for the Seahawks last year and he caught 36 passes for 385 yards (10.7 avg) with 4 TD grabs.  The Seahawks are going to miss Morrah, Lewis and Butler as they are were all contributors to the success of the team in 2010.

The Seattle Seahawks place Isaiah Stanback on I.R.

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Hawks Squawk,Injury Reports by admin on Sunday 4 September 2011 at 9:44 pm

The Seattle Seahawks have placed 27-year old WR Isaiah Stanback on the Injured Reserve List due to a hamstring injury.  He didn’t play in any games last year either.  Stanback has now played in 14 games in his first three years in the NFL and he has caught 5 passes for 46 yards (9.2 avg).  He has also returned 14 kickoffs for 318 yards (22.7 avg) in his NFL career.  Stanback is running out of time to prove himself as a legit NFL player.

The Seattle Seahawks lose TE John Carlson for the season

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Hawks Squawk,Injury Reports by admin on Thursday 1 September 2011 at 12:33 am

The Seahawks have lost 27-year old TE John Carlson for the 2011 season due to surgery to repair a torn labrum.  Carlson played in 15 games (13 starts) for the Seahawks last year and he caught 31 passes for 318 yards (10.3 avg) with 1 TD grab.  He has now played in 47 games (38 starts) in his first three years with the Seahawks and he has caught 137 passes for 1,519 yards (11.1 avg) with 13 TD grabs.  The Seahawks shouldn’t miss Carlson too much due to the off-season signing of Zach Miller.

The Seattle Seahawks sign DT Jimmy Wilkerson

The Seahawks have signed 30-year old DT Jimmy Wilkerson.  Wilkerson played in all 16 games for the Saints last year and he had 14 tackles and 2 sacks.  He has now played in 119 games in his first 8 years in the NFL and he has 179 tackles, 13 tackles for a loss, 14 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery and 8 passes defensed.  Wilkerson will give the Seahawks some depth on the interior of the D-Line so this year.

UPDATE:  (9/4/2011) – The Seahawks have placed Jimmy Wilkerson on the Injured Reserve List due to a knee injury.
