The Seahawks just don’t seem to be motivated to play well on the road.  Matt Hasselbeck completed 20 of 36 passes for 191 yards with 0 TD passes and 1 INT.  Michael Robinson completed his only pass attempt and it was good for 28 yards.  Justin Forsett was so-so yesterday with 19 carries for 65 yards (3.4 ypc) and he also caught 2 passes for 10 yards (5.0 avg).  Brandon Stokley (4 rec, 62 yards) and Mike Williams (4 rec, 32 yards) led the way in the passing game for the Seahawks yesterday.  The Seahawks finished up with 64 yards rushing on 24 carries (2.7 ypc) and they also completed 21 of 37 passes for 193 yards.

The defense also didn’t play well yesterday for the Seahawks.  CB Marcus Trufant led the way for the Seahawks in this game with 8 tackles.  Safety Lawyer Milloy (6 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 1 sack and 2 QB hits) and DE Chris Clemons (4 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 2 sacks and 3 QB hits) also were really busy yesterday for the Seahawks.  Rookie safety Earl Thomas pitched in with another interception in this game.  The Rams finished up with 88 yards rushing on 28 carries (3.1 ypc) and they also completed 23 of 41 passes for 261 yards.  The Seahawks are now 2-2 on the year.

The Seahawks won this game because of Leon Washington and a opportunistic defense.  Leon Washington was the man yesterday as he returned 4 kickoffs for 253 yards (63.3 avg) including 2 of them (99, 101 yards) that went for TDs.  The 99-yarder came in the 4th quarter to give the Seahawks the final lead that the defense protected.

The Seahawks offense wasn’t very effective at all in this game as they only had possession of the ball for 23:56.  Matt Hasselbeck was so-so as he completed 19 of 32 passes for 220 yards with 1 TD pass and 1 INT.  Justin Forsett pitched in with 17 carries for 63 yards (3.7 ypc) and he also caught 3 passes for 31 yards (10.3 avg) in this game.   Deion Branch (5 rec, 60 yards) and John Carlson (5 rec, 61 yards, TD) led the way for the Seahawks in the passing game yesterday.  The Seahawks finished up with 68 yards rushing on 21 carries (3.2 ypc) and they also completed 19 of 32 passes for 203 yards.

The Seahawks gave up a ton of yards in this game.  Safety Lawyer Milloy led the way for the Seahawks in this game with 12 tackles.  LB David Hawthorne was also very busy in this game with 9 tackles and 1 QB hit.  Rookie safety Earl Thomas had a big game for the Seahawks with 6 tackles, 2 passes defensed, 1 QB hit and 2 interceptions (including the game sealer at the end of the game on the Seahawks’ 5-yard line!).  DE Chris Clemons (5 tackles, 3 tackles for a loss, 2 sacks and 4 QB hits) and DT Red Bryant (4 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss and 2 fumble recoveries) also had big games for the Seahawks on D yesterday.  The Chargers finished up with 89 yards rushing on 21 carries (4.2 ypc) and they also completed 29 of 53 passes for 429 yards.  The Seahawks are now 2-1 on the year.

Unlike in the season opener, the Seahawks made some huge mistakes on offense which led to this blowout loss.  Matt Hasselbeck was the biggest culprit.  He completed 20 of 35 passes for 233 yards with 1 TD pass and 3 INTs.  He also carried the ball 3 times for 21 yards (7.0 ypc) with a TD run.  Justin Forsett (8 car, 44 yards) and Leon Washington (4 car, 17 yards) led the way for the Seahawks on the ground in this game.  Rookie Golden Tate had a impressive game for the Seahawks in catching 1 pass for 52 yards and returning 2 punts for 82 yards (41.0 avg).  Deon Butler (5 rec, 50 yards), John Carlson (5 rec, 48 yards) and Ben Obomanu (2 rec, 30 yards, TD) led the way in the passing game for the Seahawks yesterday.  The Seahawks finished up with 109 yards rushing on 20 carries (5.5 ypc) and they also completed 20 of 35 passes for 230 yards as they only had possession of the ball for 22:33.

Safeties Earl Thomas and Lawyer Milloy had 8 tackles apiece to lead the way for the Seahawks on D in this game.  OLB Aaron Curry was also active with 6 tackles and 2 tackles for a loss in this game.  The Broncos finished up with 65 yards rushing on 38 carries (1.7 ypc) and they also completed 25 of 35 passes for 304 yards.  The Seahawks are now 1-1 on the year.

Seattle Seahawks 31, San Francisco 49ers 6

The Seahawks shocked the NFL world yesterday by taking the 49ers behind the woodshed and kicking their butts.  Matt Hasselbeck was very efficient in this game as he completed 18 of 23 passes for 170 yards with 2 TD passes and 1 interception.  Justin Forsett led the way on the ground for the Seahawks in this game as he carried the ball 7 times for 43 yards (6.1 ypc) and he also caught 3 passes for 17 yards (5.7 avg).  Mike Williams led the way in the passing game for the Seahawks yesterday with 4 grabs for 64 yards (16.0 avg).  WRs Deion Branch (3 rec, 11 yards) and Deon Butler (1 rec, 13 yards) each had 1 TD apiece in this game for the Seahawks.  The Seahawks finished up with 77 yards rushing on 23 carries (3.3 ypc) and they also completed 18 of 23 passes for 165 yards yesterday.

The Seahawks’ D keyed on Frank Gore which forced the Niners to the air and some big mistakes.  Safety Jordan Babineaux led the way for the Seahawks’ D yesterday with 8 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 pass defensed and 1 interception which he returned 20 yards.  LB Lofa Tatupu (8 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss) and rookie safety Earl Thomas (7 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss) also had solid games on D for the Seahawks yesterday.  CB Marcus Trufant was a game changer for the Seahawks D in this game with 3 tackles, 3 passes defensed and a 32-yard interception return for a TD.  The 49ers finished up with 49 yards rushing on 19 carries (2.6 ypc) and they also completed 26 of 45 passes for 214 yards.  This was a sterling win for the Seahawks who hope that they can build on it.

Seattle Seahawks 13, Tennessee Titans 17

The Seattle Seahawks (5-11) lost their final game of the 2009 season to the Tennessee Titans (8-8) on Sunday.  It wasn’t a very pretty game, and it was a pretty ugly season for the Seahawks this year.  They turned the ball over way too much this year, with Matt Hasselbeck leading the way in that category.  No surprise in this one, Hasselbeck threw an interception.  He finished with 1 touchdown, 1 interception, and 175 yards on 15/30 passes.  The running game was great in this one, with Justin Forsett and Julius Jones combining for 135 yards on 24 carries.  It wasn’t enough since the Titans could not hold a slight lead in the 4th quarter.

The Seahawks defense could not stop Chris Johnson, but they shouldn’t hang their heads too low since nobody could stop Johnson this year.  Johnson eclipsed the 2,000 yard mark for the season in this game, becoming only the sixth player in league history to achieve that feat.  He had 134 yards and 2 touchdown on 34 carries in this one, including a late game score that was enough for the Titans to win.  This was a characteristic way for the Seahawks to end their frustrating 2009 season.

Green Bay Packers 48, Seattle Seahawks 10

The Seahawks played awful on both sides of the football yesterday and it showed on the scoreboard.  Matt Hasselbeck was putrid completing 19 of 37 passes for 198 yards with 1 TD pass and 4 INTs.  Justin Forsett led the way for the Seahawks on the ground last night with 70 yards rushing on 14 carries (5.0 ypc).  Julius Jones also was busy with 14 carries for 39 yards (2.8 ypc) and he has also caught 6 passes for 51 yards (8.5 avg).  Deion Branch did a decent job last night for the Seahawks with 5 receptions for  53 yards (10.6 avg).  T.J. Houshmandzadeh pitched in with 4 grabs for 51 yards (12.8 avg) in this game.  TE John Carlson only caught 2 passes for 24 yards (12.0 avg) but he caught a TD pass.  The Seahawks finished up with 291 total yards on offense (115 rushing, 176 passing) in this game.

Linebacker Will Herring (8 tackles) and DT Brandon Mebane (6 tackles) led a terrible effort by the Seahawks’ D yesterday.  The Packers finished up with 417 total yards on offense (153 rushing, 264 passing) in this game.  The Seahawks are now 5-10 on the year.

Seattle Seahawks 7, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 24

Matt Hasselbeck had one of the worst games of his career and the Seattle Seahawks (5-9) fell to the lowly Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-12) because of it.  Hasselbeck threw a career-high 4 interceptions and lost a fumble, finishing with 1 touchdown and 256 yards on 27/46 passes.  Hasselbeck’s 5 turnovers helped the Buccaneers get great field position, and built the young Bucs confidence with each turnover.  The running game was the only thing to find success, with running backs Jones and Forsett combining for 120 yards on 21 carries.  They failed to get into the endzone though, and the only Seahawks points coming late in the second quarter on Hasselbeck’s lone touchdown pass to John Carlson.  That was enough to go into halftime with the lead, with the score at 7-3.

The Seahawks defense was put into some tough spots due to Hasselbecks’ turnovers, but they still could have done a much better job in the second half.  They let the Bucs’ 21-year-old rookie quarterback Josh Freeman throw two touchdown passes in the second half.  Coming into this game, Freeman had 0 touchdown passes and had thrown 8 picks in his last two games.  The Seahawks failed to get enough pressure and gave Freeman a big confidence boost.  They didn’t do a good job stopping the run either, with the Bucs getting 134 rushing yards as a team.  This was a very ugly win for the Seahawks and they should be embarrassed.

I couldn’t have been further off on my prediction of the outcome of this game as the Seahawks forgot to show up today.  Matt Hasselbeck completed 24 of 35 passes for 247 yards with 1 TD pass and 1 INT (it was returned 70 yards for a TD by safety Bernard Pollard of the Texans).  Seneca Wallace threw one incomplete pass in this game.  Julius Jones led the way on the ground for the Seahawks in this game with 10 carries for 39 yards (3.9 ypc).  Justin Forsett pitched in with 26 yards rushing on 9 carries (2.9 ypc) and he also caught 4 passes for 47 yards (11.8 avg) today.  T.J. Houshmandzadeh led the way in the passing game for the Seahawks today with 4 grabs for 52 yards (13.0 avg).  WR Nate Burleson (3 rec, 50 yards) and TE John Carlson (3 rec, 24 yards, TD) also pitched in for the Seahawks in the passing game today.  The Seahawks finished up with 282 total yards on offense (62 rushing, 220 passing) in this game.

LB David Hawthorne (10 tackles, fumble recovery) and CB Marcus Trufant (9 tackles, 3 passes defensed, 1 interception) led a overall poor effort by the Seahawks on D today.  The Texans finished up with 450 total yards on offense (85 rushing, 365 passing) in this game.  The Seahawks are now 5-8 on the year.

The Seahawks got a great win yesterday at home as Olindo Mare kicked a 30-yard field goal as time expired to end the game.  Matt Hasselbeck was solid in completing 25 of 34 passes for 198 yards with 2 TD passes and 0 INTs.  He also carried the ball 4 times for 31 yards (7.8 ypc).  Seneca Wallace completed his only pass attempt and it was good for 7 yards.  Julius Jones led the way on the ground for the Seahawks yesterday with 20 carries for 67 yards (3.4 ypc) and he also caught 5 passes for -3 yards (-0.6 avg).  Justin Forsett only rushed for 9 yards on 5 carries (1.8 ypc) but he also caught 3 passes for 25 yards (8.3 avg) with a TD.  Nate Burleson (5 rec, 54 yards) and T.J. Houshmandzadeh (5 rec, 37 yards) had solid games for the Seahawks yesterday.  But, it was rookie WR Deon Butler who made the biggest play in this game setting up Olindo Mare with a long 32-yard catch late in the 4th quarter which was his only grab of the day.  The Seahawks finished up with 292 total yards on offense (107 rushing, 185 passing) in this game.

The defense was in bend but don’t break mode for the Seahawks yesterday.  Safety Jordan Babineaux led the way for the Seahawks in this game with 9 tackles, 1/2 a sack, 1 pass defensed and 1 QB hit.  CB Marcus Trufant also had a decent game finishing with 7 tackles in this game.  The 49ers finished up with 356 total yards in this game (53 rushing, 303 passing).  The Seahawks are now 5-7 on the season.

The Seattle Seahawks didn’t play their best game of the year yesterday but they didn’t need to.  Matt Hasselbeck was a game manager yesterday completing 14 of 25 passes for 102 yards.  He also carried the ball 3 times for 18 yards (6.0 ypc) yesterday.  Justin Forsett was outstanding for the Seahawks yesterday with 22 carries for 130 yards (5.9 ypc) with 2 TD runs.  Nate Burleson led the way in the passing game for the Seahawks in St. Louis with 4 grabs for 46 yards (11.5 avg).  The Seahawks finished up with 265 total yards on offense (170 rushing, 95 passing) despite only possessing the football for 26:28.

The defense were in a bend but don’t break mode yesterday and they were led by a trio of players who were making huge plays the whole game long.  Safety Jordan Babineaux led the way for the Seahawks with 13 tackles, 2 passes defensed and 1 QB hit.  LB David Hawthorne also had a very solid game with 7 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 sack and 1 QB hit.  CB Josh Wilson had 2 tackles, defensed 3 passes, had 1 QB hit and he returned a interception 65 yards for a TD!  The Rams finished up with 364 total yards on offense (113 rushing, 251 passing) in this game.  The Seahawks are now 4-7 on the season.
