The Seahawks have signed 39-year old long snapper/TE Jeff Robinson to replace the injured Kevin Houser.  Robinson played in 16 games (0 starts) last season as he served as the long snapper on the Seahawks.  He has now played in 200 games (18 starts) in his NFL career and he has caught 28 passes for 278 yards (9.9 avg) with 8 TD grabs.  Look for Robinson to just handle the long snapping as his days of going out for passes is long gone.

The Seahawks have signed 24-year old running back Xavier Omon to their practice squad.  He played in 5 games earlier this season for the Bills and he carried the ball 5 times for 22 yards (4.4 ypc) and he also returned 1 kickoff for 26 yards.  Omon has now played in 7 games in his NFL career and he has carried the ball 11 times for 27 yards (2.5 ypc).  Omon was signed to give the Seahawks depth with Julius Jones out of action due to injury.

The Seahawks have signed 32-year old OT Damion McIntosh.  He could move right into the starting lineup at LT for the Seahawks next weekend against the Cardinals.  He started all 16 games for the Chiefs last season.  He has now played in 115 games (111 starts) in his 9-year NFL career.  McIntosh has the size needed at 6′4″, 320 pounds to protect Matt Hasselbeck’s blind side until Walter Jones is ready to return to action.

The Seattle Seahawks sign RB Louis Rankin to the practice squad

The Seahawks have signed 24-year old RB/KR Louis Rankin to the practice squad.  He played in 2 games for the Raiders this year but he didn’t have any carries.  He did return 6 kickoffs for 108 yards (18.0 avg) this season.  The Seahawks probably brought in Rankin for insurance on the special teams with Josh Wilson out of action due to injury.

The Seattle Seahawks have signed Edgerrin James

The Seahawks have signed 31-year old RB Edgerrin James to a 1-year, $2 million dollar contract.  James played in 13 games (7 starts) for the Cardinals last season and he carried the ball 133 times for 514 yards (3.9 ypc) with 3 TD runs.  He also caught 12 passes for 85 yards (7.1 avg).  James has now played in 141 games (135 starts) in his NFL career and he has carried the ball 2,982 times for 12,121 yards (4.1 ypc) with 80 TD runs.  He has also caught 430 passes for 3,345 yards (7.8 avg) with 11 TD grabs.  This was a good signing for the Seahawks who just couldn’t afford to rely on the injury prone Julius Jones as the undisputed feature back of the team.
