Seattle Seahawks 17, Dallas Cowboys 38
The Seattle Seahawks (2-5) took an early 3-0 lead on an Olindo Mare field goal against the Dallas Cowboys (5-2), but the Cowboys responded with a touchdown and never looked back. Matt Hasselbeck played decent, going 22/39 for 249 yards and two touchdowns. Hasselbeck did a good job not turning the ball over, but unfortunately for Hasselbeck his teammates could not hold on to the ball. Nate Burleson and Justin Forsettboth lost a fumble. Julius Jones was going up against his former team, but had a mediocre day getting 56 yards on 15 carries. The Seahawks offense simply could not keep up with the Cowboys offense, and when you lose two fumbles its hard to keep up with a good offense.
Linebacker David Hawthorne seemed to be the only Seahawks defender who came to play. The Seahawks tried to pressure Tony Romo, but failed to do so most of the game. Hawthorne was the only one who had some success getting to Romo, as he sacked him twice and forced a fumble. It was the only two sacks of the game for the Seahawks though, and Romo was able to go 21/36 for 256 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions. They also gave up 113 rushing yards, so the Seahawks defense did not give their offense much of a chance to stay in the game. The special teams gave up an 82 yard punt return to the Cowboys’ Patrick Crayton, which pretty much sealed the win for the Cowboys. The Seahawks were able to get the game to 14-10 in the second quarter, but the Cowboys rattled off 24 straight points to put the Seahawks out of the game.
