Seattle Seahawks vs. Green Bay Packers

The Packers (2-3) and Seahawks (1-3) both need this game to help turn around their seasons.  The Packers will likely come out attacking the Seahawks through the air despite Aaron Rodgers playing with a sore shoulder.  He has thrown for 1,274 yards this season and he will likely be moving the ball around to Greg Jennings, Donald Driver and Donald Lee against a Seahawks’ defense that is allowing 237.0 yards passing per game (107.3 QB Rating).  The Packers would also like to get Ryan Grant going (267 yards rushing, 3.7 ypc) against a Seahawks’ defense that is allowing 129.5 yards rushing per game and 4.6 yards per carry.

The Seahawks will likely be starting #3 QB Charlie Frye against the Packers due to injuries to Matt Hasselbeck and Seneca Wallace.  With that in mind the Seahawks should get back to what they do best on offense and that’s running the football.  Julius Jones (373 yards rushing, 4.8 yards per carry) is having a great season and the Packers are allowing 161.4 yards rushing per game and 5.1 yards per carry this season.

PREDICTION:  GREEN BAY PACKERS 30, SEATTLE SEAHAWKS 24

New York Giants 44, Seattle Seahawks 6

What a pathetic performance by the Seahawks last weekend in New Jersey!  The offense sucked and the defense wasn’t any better.  Matt Hasselbeck only completed 11 of 21 passes for 105 yards with a interception before getting pulled from the game.  Seneca Wallace wasn’t any better completing 3 of 6 passes for 20 yards.  Julius Jones was also bottled up rushing for 61 yards on 17 carries (3.6 ypc) in this game.  The lone bright spot for the Seahawks on offense was the fact that Deion Branch and Bobby Engram both returned from injuries and they combined to catch 11 passes for 92 yards.  The Seahawks finished up with a simply awful 187 yards of total offense in this football game.  But, the offense wasn’t the only thing that sucked last Sunday.  The Giants rushed for 254 yards (7.1 ypc) and passed for 269 yards against the hapless Seahawks’ defense.  The Seahawks are now 1-3 on the season with this loss.

Seattle Seahawks vs. New York Giants

This should be a very interesting football game as Mike Holmgren and Tom Coughlin both had a extra week to prepare for this game due to bye weeks.  The Seahawks will try to run a balanced offense to keep the Giants’ defense honest in rushing the passer.  If Matt Hasselbeck has time to throw the ball against the Giants he will have a good game now that Deion Branch and Bobby Engram are back.  But, the Giants already have 13 sacks this season so Hasselbeck will have to get rid of the ball fast.  RB Julius Jones has been great this season (312 yards rushing, 5.1 yards per carry) but the Giants only allow 84.7 yards rushing per game and 3.8 yards per carry this season.

The Giants would love to pound the football with Brandon Jacobs and Derrick Ward against the Seahawks but they have a good set of linebackers who will make that hard on them to do.  The Seahawks are only allowing 88.0 yards rushing per game and 3.5 yards per carry this season.  The Seahawks would like to force Eli Manning to beat them with his arm as he will be without Plaxico Burress who often snatches bad passes out of the air making him look good.  The Seahawks have 10 sacks already this season and Manning sometimes has trouble when rushed well.

PREDICTION:  NEW YORK GIANTS 24, SEATTLE SEAHAWKS 21
