The Seahawks have signed 26-year old RB Julius Jones.  Jones played in 16 games with the Cowboys last season and he carried the ball 164 times for 588 yards (3.6 ypc) with 2 TD runs.  He also caught 23 passes for 203 yards (8.8 avg).  He has now played in 53 games in his NFL career and he has carried the ball 885 times for 3,484 yards (3.9 ypc) with 18 TD runs.  He also has caught 84 passes for 672 yards (8.0 avg).  This was an interesting signing by the Seahawks as it signals the likely end of Shaun Alexander’s stay in Seattle.

The Seattle Seahawks have signed Jeb Putzier to a 1-year contract.  Putzier played in 8 games last season for the Texans and he has caught 6 passes for 39 yards (6.5 avg) with 1 TD grab.  Putzier has now played in 61 games in his NFL career and he has made 96 catches for 1,251 yards (13.0 avg) with 3 TD grabs.  This was a good move for the Seahawks as Putzier is a decent all-around TE.

The Seattle Seahawks sign RB T.J. Duckett

The Seattle Seahawks have signed 27-year old RB T.J. Duckett to a 5-year contract.  Duckett played in 12 games last season for the Lions and he carried the ball 65 times for 335 yards (5.2 ypc) with 3 TD runs.  He also caught 4 passes for 54 yards (13.5 avg).  Duckett has now played in 77 games in his NFL career and he has carried the ball 655 times for 2,642 yards (4.0 ypc) with 36 TD runs.  He also has caught 35 passes for 303 yards (8.7 avg).  This was a good signing for the Seahawks as Duckett hasn’t gotten much playing time the last two seasons which means he probably has a lot of tread left on his tires.  He’s also a big, power runner at 6′0″, 254 pounds who will be able to team with Shaun Alexander to bring back the running game in the Northwest corner of the United States.
