Carolina Panthers 13, Seattle Seahawks 10

The Seahawks offense only had the football for 24:38 of this football game and that was a huge reason for this loss.  Matt Hasselbeck had a decent game as he completed 27 of 41 passes for 274 yards with 1 TD pass.  But, the Seahawks couldn’t run the football yesterday as Shaun Alexander (7 car, 17 yards) and Maurice Morris (4 car, 15 yards) had a hard time finding running room.  Bobby Engram (9 rec, 84 yards) and Deion Branch (8 rec, 79 yards, TD) led the way in the passing game for the Seahawks.  The Seahawks finished up with 44 yards rushing on 14 carries (3.1 ypc)  and they also completed 27 of 41 passes for 238 yards.

The defense was led by Marcus Trufant (9 tackles) and Patrick Kerney (8 tackles) yesterday.  The Panthers finished up with 114 yards rushing on 38 carries (3.0 ypc) and they also completed 19 of 27 passes for 208 yards.

Seattle Seahawks vs. Carolina Panthers

This football game will pit one of the hotter teams in the NFL (Seattle Seahawks) against one of the colder teams in the NFL (Carolina Panthers).  The Seahawks have won 5 games in a row in which they have outscored the opposition 148-87!  The Panthers have only one 1 of their last seven games and they have been outscored 184-87 in those games!

The Seahawks shouldn’t have much problem moving up and down the field against a Panthers Defense that doesn’t have many playmakers on it.  The Seahawks will probably pass first to try to get a lead and then grind it out on the ground.  Matt Hasselbeck should have no problem throwing the ball with success against a Panthers Defense that is allowing 210.4 yards per game.

With Matt Moore likely to start this game the Panthers will likely run the ball at least 60% of the time.   DeShaun Foster and DeAngelo Williams should find running room against a Seahawks Defense that is allowing 100.0 yards rushing per game and 4.0 yards per carry.  Moore will have to be careful throwing the ball against a defense that already has 20 interceptions and 41 sacks.

PREDICTION:  SEATTLE SEAHAWKS 27,  CAROLINA PANTHERS 10

The Seahawks domintated this game on both sides of the football as they improved to 9-4 on the season.  Matt Hasselbeck led the way for the Seahawks as he completed 22 of 33 passes for 272 yards with 4 TD passes and no interceptions.  Shaun Alexander had another sub par game with 10 carries for 38 yards (3.8 ypc).  Maurice Morris also found running room hard to find as he carried the ball 13 times for 36 yards (2.8 ypc) and he also caught 3 passes for 26 yards (8.7 avg).  Leonard Weaver only carried the ball 1 time for 3 yards but he caught 4 passes for 56 yards (14.0 avg).  Bobby Engram (4 rec, 55 yards), Deion Branch (3 rec, 52 yards) and Nate Burleson (5 rec, 50 yards) each caught a TD pass yesterday.  The Seahawks finished up with 80 yards rushing on 28 carries (2.9 ypc) and they also completed 22 of 33 passes for 269 yards.

DE Patrick Kerney (7 tackles, 3 sacks) and CB Marcus Trufant (6 tackles, 3 interceptions….one returned 84 yards for a TD) both dominated the Cards yesterday.  The Cardinals finished up with 50 yards rushing on 16 carries (3.1 ypc) and they also completed 28 of 46 passes for 305 yards.
