Matt Hasselbeck is playing at a high level for the Seattle Seahawks

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Hawks Squawk by admin on Thursday 29 November 2007 at 3:29 pm

With the Seahawks not running well this season (only averaging 95.4 yards, 3.6 ypc) they really needed the passing game to perform well.  Matt Hasselbeck has answered the call despite injuries to key receivers Deion Branch and D.J. Hackett this season.  Hasselbeck has completed 251 of 402 passes (62.4%) for 2,887 yards with 18 TD passes and 9 interceptions (89.6 QB Rating) so far this season.  The Seahawks are in charge in the NFC West and Hasselbeck is the biggest reason for that.

The Seahawks offense continued to purr against a usually rugged Bears defense and that was the reason for this big win.  Matt Hasselbeck was outstanding again today as he completed 30 of 44 passes for 337 yards with 2 TD passes and 0 interceptions.  Maurice Morris was outstanding also as he carried the ball 18 times for 87 yards (4.8 ypc) with a TD run and he also caught a pass for 19 yards.  D.J. The Seahawks defense played just well enough to win this game.  LeRoy Hill led the way for the Seahawks with 10 tackles.  Deion Grant also had a solid game with 9 tackles.  DEs Patrick Kerney (5 tackles, 3 sacks) and Darryl Tapp (5 tackles, sack, fumble recovery) were both giving Rex Grossman fits all day long.  The Bears finished up with 107 yards rushing on 22 carries (4.9 ypc) and they also completed 24 of 37 passes for 238 yards.

The Seahawks offense was outstanding in this game but their defense was awful and it cost them this game.  Matt Hasselbeck had a great game as he completed 30 of 47 passes for 318 yards with 2 TD passes and 1 interception.  He also carried the ball 4 times for 17 yards (4.3 ypc).  Shaun Alexander had a rough game before he had to leave due to an injury.  Alexander carried the ball 14 times for 32 yards (2.3 ypc).  Maurice Morris had a solid game in relief of Alexander as he carried the ball 9 times for 55 yards (6.1 ypc) and he also caught 2 passes for 43 yards (21.5 avg).  Bobby Engram was a busy boy in this game as he caught 14 passes for 139 yards (9.9 avg) with a TD grab.  Nate Burleson also had a good game as he caught 4 passes for 59 yards (14.8 avg) and he also returned a punt 94 yards for a TD.  D.J. Hackett had a solid game in his return from injury as he caught 6 passes for 58 yards (9.7 avg) with a TD grab.  The Seahawks finished this game with 105 yards rushing on 28 carries (3.8 ypc) and they also completed 30 of 47 passes for 318 yards.

The defense (what little there was of it) was led by Lofa Tatupu who had 8 tackles.  The Browns finished with 64 yards rushing on 25 carries (2.6 ypc) and they also completed 29 of 48 passes for 364 yards.
