The Seattle Seahawks trade Darrell Jackson to the 49ers for a draft pick

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Hawks Squawk,Seahawks Headlines,The Draft Report by dawgpounded on Monday 30 April 2007 at 12:55 pm

The Seahawks figured they were set at WR with D.J. Hackett and Deion Branch so they decided to trade Darrell Jackson.  I don’t have an issue with trading Darrell Jackson, but I do have an issue with trading him to the division rival San Francisco 49ers.  The 49ers had a huge need at WR that they didn’t really address early in the Draft and the Seahawks gift wrapped them one.  Jackson played in 13 games last season for the Seahawks and he caught 63 passes for 956 yards (15.2 avg) with 10 TD receptions.  Over his 7 year career with the Seahawks, Jackson played in 96 games and he caught 441 passes for 6,445 yards (14.6 avg) with 47 TD catches.  The Seahawks used the pick they acquired for Jackson on offensive guard Mansfield Wrotto of Georgia Tech.

The Seattle Seahawks re-sign OT Sean Locklear

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Hawks Squawk by dawgpounded on Thursday 26 April 2007 at 4:58 pm

The Seahawks have re-signed OT Sean Locklear to a 1-year contract.  Locklear played in 11 games last season for the Seahawks and he started 10 of them.  He played very well last season for the Seahawks and he should be a starter again this season.

The Seattle Seahawks sign DE Brandon Green

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Hawks Squawk by dawgpounded on Wednesday 25 April 2007 at 4:50 pm

The Seahawks have signed DE Brandon Green to a 1-year contract.  He played in 13 games last season for the St. Louis Rams and he made 19 tackles, 1/2 a sack and defensed a pass.  Green might wind up being a decent backup end for the Seahawks next season.

The Seattle Seahawks re-sign two of their own free agents

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Hawks Squawk by dawgpounded on Monday 23 April 2007 at 1:50 pm

The Seahawks have re-signed linebacker Niko Koutouvides and WR D.J. Hackett to 1-year deals.  Koutouvides played in 16 games last season and he made 14 tackles.  Over his three year NFL career (all with the Seahawks) Koutouvides has played in 44 games and he’s made 88 tackles and has 1 sack.  He will provide depth at linebacker as a reserve and he’ll will help the Seahawks out on special teams.  WR D.J. Hackett emerged as a solid player last season and that’s why the Seahawks are entertaining offers for Darrell Jackson with the idea of starting Hackett alongside Deion Branch next season.  Hackett played in 14 games (5 starts) for the Seahawks last season and he caught 45 passes for 610 yards (13.6 avg) with 4 TD grabs.

The Seattle Seahawks sign C/G Austin King

Blogged under Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Hawks Squawk by dawgpounded on Monday 23 April 2007 at 1:36 pm

The Seahawks have signed Austin King to give them depth along their offensive line.  He played in 14 games last season for the Atlanta Falcons, but didn’t start a game.  The 6’3″, 288 pound King has played 4 seasons in the NFL and he’s played in 34 games but only has started 1 of them.

The Seattle Seahawks are on the clock………..

I have conducted a complete 7 round draft for every team in the NFL.  If you want to see what I have projected for any other team in the NFL, click on the team name in the right hand margin and go to the team’s Draft Report page if you don’t see the article on the front page of the site.  This was a lot of work so I hope you enjoy it.

The Seahawks don’t have a first round pick because they traded it last season for WR Deion Branch.  Look for Mike Holmgren and CO. to draft the player that best fits their needs on the football field.  With that in mind, here’s who I expect the Seahawks to make a run at drafting:

2. (55)  Zach Miller, TE, Arizona State

3. (85)  Quinn Pitcock, DT, Ohio State

4. (120)  Michael Johnson, S, Arizona

5. (161)  Garrett Wolfe, RB, Northern Illinois

6. (197)  Anthony Pudewell, TE, Nevada

6. (210)  Chaz Williams, CB, UL-Monroe

7. (232)  Mario Henderson, OT, Florida State

The Seahawks would be pretty happy with this bunch of football players if they are available to them in the Draft.

The Seattle Seahawks re-sign guard Chris Gray

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Hawks Squawk by dawgpounded on Saturday 7 April 2007 at 10:19 am

The Seahawks have re-signed veteran guard Chris Gray to a 2-year contract.  He started 15 games last season for the Seahawks and played pretty well.  The 6’3″, 308 pound Gray has played in 192 games over his NFL career and he’s started 154 games.  This was a nice signing for the Seahawks.

The Seattle Seahawks re-sign Leonard Weaver and Craig Terrill

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Hawks Squawk by dawgpounded on Thursday 5 April 2007 at 12:50 pm

The Seattle Seahawks have re-signed fullback Leonard Weaver and DT Craig Terrill.  Leonard Weaver didn’t play a down last season after playing in all 16 games as a rookie for the Seahawks.  DT Craig Terrill is a solid reserve along the front line for the Seahawks.  He played in 11 games last season and he made 14 tackles, had 3 sacks and recovered a fumble.
