The Seahawks only had 6 picks in last April’s draft but three of them made an impact and a 4th one could be a starter down the road for them. Here’s a breakdown:
In the first round CB Kelly Jennings had a decent rookie season. He played in all 16 games and made 40 tackles, had an interception, defensed 5 passes and forced a fumble. He will be a starter for a long time for the Seahawks.
In the 2nd round the Seahawks nabbed DE Darryl Tapp. Tapp played in all 16 games and he registered 33 tackles, 3 sacks, forced a fumble and intercepted a pass that he returned 25 yards for a TD. He also will be a starter for the Seahawks.
In round #4 Rob Sims (OG) played in 14 games (3 starts) and he played well as a reserve and could be a future starter for the Seahawks.
In the 7th round the Seahawks drafted something they really needed….a punter. Ryan Plackemeier played in all 16 games and punted the ball 84 times for 3,778 yards (45.0 avg). He pinned 25 of his punts inside the opposing 20 yard line and had a 37.3 net punting avg.
5th round pick David Kirtman (FB) and 7th round pick Ben Obomanu (WR) didn’t play a down for the Seahawks.
