Seahawks fall in KC 35-28

The offense tried to keep the Seahawks in the game, but they played pathetic on defense.  FS Ken Hamlin led the team with 11 tackles.  LB Julian Peterson had 9 tackles and a sack and LB Lofa Tatupu added 9 tackles.  The Chiefs ran the ball 53 times for 191 yards (3.6 ypc).  The Chiefs also completed 17 of 25 passes for 308 net yards passing.

Seneca Wallace did the best he could, completing 15 of 30 passes for 198 yards with 3 TDs and 2 INT.  Wallace also carried the ball 4 times for 18 yards.  Maurice Morris had another rough game, carrying the ball 12 times for 25 yards (2.1 ypc).  Darrell Jackson caught 3 passes for 64 yards and a TD.  DJ Hackett added 3 catches for 25 yards and a TD.  Nate Burleson caught one pass, and it was a 21 yard TD.

Seahawks vs. Chiefs

The Chiefs have won 3 of their last 4 football games, while the Seahawks have lost two of their last three games.  When KC fans got their season tickets in the mail, I’m sure that this game stood out……..Larry Johnson vs. Shaun Alexander…….Trent Green vs. Matt Hasselbeck, but not all is bad for the KC fan in this game.  QB Seneca Wallace and Maurice Morris are the guys now trying to win the game in Seattle, and the outlook for them is bleak!

Don’t look for Mike Holmgren to change what the Seahawks like to do on offense.  The strength of the team as it stands right now is the WRs.  Look for the Seahawks to spread the field with Darrell Jackson (33 rec, 523 yards), Deion Branch (15 rec, 216 yards), DJ Hackett and Nate Burleson and let Seneca Wallace throw the ball in his first NFL start. It won’t be easy, because Arrowhead is a tough place to play and the Chiefs secondary is filled with veterans who will try to trick Wallace into making bad throws.  RB Maurice Morris (224 yards rushing, 3.1 ypc) had better give the offense a little balance or the pass rush will tee off on Wallace.  The Chiefs have had major problems stopping the run, allowing 123.7 yards rushing per game this season……so maybe the Seahawks will try to run the ball a little more than usual.

The Seahawks defense has been a little stingy against the run, but don’t look for Herman Edwards to change how he runs his team.  The Chiefs will probably feed the rock to Larry Johnson (489 yards rushing, 303 yards receiving) and take on the Seahawks linebacking corps.  Also look for the Chiefs to keep TE Tony Gonzalez involved in the offense after his huge game last week.  The Seahawks allow 225.5 yards passing per game and an opponents QB rating of 92.2, so maybe this is the week that Edwards opens it up a little bit.

The Chiefs should win this football game.  Seneca Wallace will have a hard time in his first NFL start if the Seahawks have trouble running the football.

Seahawks by the numbers

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page by ravenhater on Wednesday 25 October 2006 at 9:31 am

The Seahawks have been disappointing this season on offense, as they only average 20.2 points per game.  The running game has never got started this season as they only average 99.7 yards per game and 3.5 yards per carry.  The passing game has been a little bit better, averaging 204.0 net yards and completing 58.1% of their passes.

The Seahawks defense is allowing 23.7 points per game, which is not good.  The defense is good at stopping the run allowing 92.2 yards per game and 3.9 yards per carry.  The pass defense has been terrible as opposing teams complete 62.1% of their passes for 225.5 net yards passing.

Seahawks lose Hasselbeck for 2-4 weeks

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Injury Reports, General Hawks Squawk by ravenhater on Tuesday 24 October 2006 at 2:36 am

Matt Hasselbeck will be out 2-4 weeks with a sprained knee, Seneca Wallace will take over.  This is a huge blow to a team that was already without Shaun Alexander and Bobby Engram.  The defense and the running game will have to step up or the Seahawks will be losing some important games.

Seahawks dominated on scoreboard and physically losing 31-13

The Seahawks got absolutely beaten up by the Minnesota Vikings yesterday.  Gone is the Seahawks 12 game home winning streak, and also Matt Hasselbeck could miss some time as he was knocked out of the game in the 3rd quarter with a sprained knee.  Hasselbeck completed 7 of 17 passes for 127 yards and a TD before he was knocked out.  Seneca Wallace didn’t look too good, completing 14 of 25 passes for 134 yards and 2 INT.  RB Maurice Morris was stuffed all day as he had 17 carries for 49 yards (2.9 ypc).  WR Darrell Jackson had a good game catching 7 passes for 136 yards and a TD.  Deion Branch caught 4 passes for 60 yards.

LB Julian Peterson had a great game with 10 tackles and 2 sacks, but the rest of the defense had a rough time.  The Vikings ran the ball 30 times for 175 yards (5.8 ypc)!  The Seahawks allowed the Vikings to complete 16 of 25 passes for 157 net yards passing….including a TD pass thrown by a running back!

The two players that the Seahawks couldn’t afford to lose, Matt Hasselbeck and Shaun Alexander are both injured now.  We’ll see if the other Seahawks can step it up until they get back.  If they can’t, it will be hard for the Seahawks to make the playoffs.
