Seahawks acquire WR Deion Branch

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page by ravenhater on Wednesday 13 September 2006 at 4:41 pm

The Seahawks acquired WR Deion Branch from the New England Patriots for a first round pick in 2007.  Branch has played in 53 games (42 starts) and has caught 213 passes for 2,744 yards (12.9 avg) and 14 TDs.  Branch will definately make the Seahawks’ passing game more dangerous.  Oddly though, Branch has never had over 1,000 yards receiving in a season.

Seahawks win defensive struggle in Detroit 9-6

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page by ravenhater on Monday 11 September 2006 at 7:52 pm

The Seahawks looked lethargic on offense, but dominant on defense yesterday.  Matt Hasselbeck completed 25 of 30 passes (83.3%) for 210 yards.  Shaun Alexander had a rough game, carrying the ball 19 times for 51 yards (2.7 ypc).  WR Bobby Engram caught 5 passes for 52 yards (10.4 avg).  Darrell Jackson caught 5 passes for 47 yards (9.4 avg).  RB Mack Strong caught 6 passes for 30 yards.

The Seahawks defense absolutely stuffed the Lions running game as the Lions only had 38 yards rushing and only averaged 2.2 yards per carry.  The Lions completed 56.8% of their passes for 213 net yards in the air.

WR Darrell Jackson to be limited against Lions

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page by ravenhater on Saturday 9 September 2006 at 5:33 pm

Jackson will be limited to about 25 plays on offense this week against the Lions.  The Seahawks are gonna try to be easy on Jackson, as the Lions look like any easy feast for the offense.

Seahawks vs. Lions

The Seahawks will probably just play basic football and give the Lions all kinds of trouble.  I don’t see the Lions line-backers and D-Line having much chance of stopping running back Shaun Alexander from having a good game.  When Alexander is running well, Matt Hasselbeck has an easy time throwing the ball downfield.  WR Darrell Jackson and TE Ituli Mili are banged up, but Nate Burleson and Bobby Engram will more than likely step up and produce decent numbers.

The Lions will probably try to throw the ball all over the place with Mike Martz calling the plays.  The problem with doing that is that Jon Kitna is a tad turnover-prone.  The Lions will attack with Kitna throwing to Roy Williams alot, but the Seahawks have a strong secondary, so Kitna will have to be careful.  Martz might have some thoughts about using RB Kevin Jones a little more than most people think, to balance out the offense.

On paper, the Seahawks should dominate this game…….but games aren’t played on paper.
