Seahawks win with defense 21-10

The Seahawks defense set the tone for this football game.  CB Kelly Herndon had 9 tackles.  LB Lofa Tatupu had 12 tackles and Leroy Hill had 7 tackles and a sack.  The Seahawks stuffed the Cards running game holding them to 65 yards rushing and only 3.3 yards per carry.  The Seahawks allowed the Cards to complete 63.2% of their passes for 191 net yards thru the air.

Matt Hasselbeck didn’t have his best game completing 12 of 27 passes (44.4%) for 221 yards with 1 TD and 2 INT.  RB Shaun Alexander carried the ball 26 times for 89 yards (3.4 avg) and a TD.  Mack Strong had 3 carries for 30 yards (10.0 ypc) and a TD.  WR Darrell Jackson caught 5 passes for 127 yards (25.4 avg) and a TD.  Bobby Engram caught 4 passes for 51 yards (12.8 avg).

Deion Branch to play this week

Branch was practicing for the Seahawks today and was looking good.  He probably won’t be out on the field every play, but maybe a third of them to start.

Seahawks vs. Cardinals

Blogged under Front Page, This Week's Matchup Report by ravenhater on Friday 15 September 2006 at 12:05 am

This should be a very interesting football game.  The Cardinals and Seahawks both won their first games, the Cards with their offense and the Seahawks with their defense.  The Cards rolled up 367 total yards, but they gave up 393 yards to the 49ers.  The Cards will probably try to run the ball with Edgerrin James alot more this week to keep the Cards defense off the field.  If Alex Smith and Frank Gore can roll up numbers on them, what will Matt Hasselbeck and Shaun Alexander do to them?  The Seahawks aggessive defense only allowed 251 yards last week to the Lions.  The Cards will need to give Kurt Warner time, of the Cards could be in trouble this week.

The Seahawks will score alot of points this week, mark my words.  The Seahawks didn’t even score a TD and they still won against the Lions.  Shaun Alexander should have a great game against a defense that was having big trouble with Frank Gore.  QB Matt Hasselbeck has a deep receiving corps, and they should be able to spread the field and move the ball at will on the Cards defense.

The Cardinals are getting better quickly, but the Seahawks are still a better team and they’re at home……so I have to go with the Seahawks in this one.
