Current Seahawks odds

The over/under for Seahawks wins is 10 1/2.  The Seahawks are 10-1 to win the Super Bowl and 13-3 to win the NFC.

I suggest a bet on the over, due to the weak division that the Hawks will be cleaning up on.  I also like both a bet on them to win the NFC and the Super Bowl.  The refs won’t cheat in Miami…..unless the Dolphins make it to the Bowl.

Seahawks get pushed around by Chargers 31-20

The Seahawks only had possession of the ball for 23:35 of the game, and scored a TD on defensive tackle Rocky Bernard’s recovery of a Philip Rivers fumble in the end zone.  Matt Hasselbeck completed 9 of 17 passes for 61 yards and a pick-off.  Seneca Wallace completed 5 of 12 passes for 61 yards.

Maurice Morris ran the ball 13 times for 67 yards (5.2 ypc).  Shaun Alexander had six carries for 25 yards.

Nate Burleson caught 5 passes for 60 yards.

The Chargers ran wild on the Seahawks defense.  The Chargers ran for 171 yards, but only 3.8 yards per carry.  The Seahawks allowed the Chargers to complete 59.1% of their passes for 150 net yards.

Seahawks showing faith in Seneca Wallace

It has been a show of faith in Seneca Wallace that the Seahawks havn’t brought a veteran QB in to back up Matt Hasselbeck.  Wallace has been showing improvement as a passer in the pre-season.  Wallace has completed 21 of 32 passes (65.6%) for 216 yards, for a QB rating of 84.9.

Seahawks not looking too good so far

It’s just the pre-season, so no need to worry.  Actually the Seahawks problem is depth, and that shows in the pre-season games.  The Seahawks are averaging 86.0 yards per game rushing on 3.4 yards per carry.  The passing game is averaging 177.0 yards per game, but completing 70.0% of it’s passes.

The run defense has been solid as the Hawks are allowing 97.0 yards per game, but only 3.3 yards per carry.  The Seahawks are looking horrible in the pre-season against the pass, yielding 257.0 yards per game and allowing the opponent to complete 67.2% of their passes.

Seahawks opportunistic in victory over Colts 30-17

If I were to tell you that the Seahawks would score 30 points, who would you think scored the TDs?  Shaun Alexander?  A receiver catching a pass from Hasselbeck?  Nope, none of those guys scored.  It was defensive back Mike Green, running back Leonard Weaver and center Chris Spencer.  All three of those guys got a TD.  Weaver scored on a TD run, Green intercepted a pass and returned it 18 yards for a TD, and center Chris Spencer fell on a fumble in the end zone.

The QBs played well.  Matt Hasselbeck completed 8 of 9 passes for 99 yards, and looked real good doing it.  Seneca Wallace completed 10 of 15 passes for 99 yards.  Wallace has played well this pre-season, solidifying his hold on the #2 QB spot.

Young running back Leonard Weaver had a good game carrying the ball 14 times for 51 yards and a TD.  Old WR Bobby Engram caught 5 passes for 64 yards.

The defense has a little work to do.  They held the Colts to 93 yards rushing on 26 carries, but the Colts completed 20 of 33 passes for a net of 279 yards passing.
